DM events are great and we hope to provide lots.

To make things run easily and better for all, we'd like you to follow these simple rules:

    1) Don't spoil the fun for others. If you do, the DM might just plop you back in the main world, or even into the fugue. Events are group-sports, and people need to work together.

    2) If you stumble upon a dm event, please consider yourself uninvited.. unless expressly stated otherwise.

    3) Some events will be set up for people of a certain level, faction, alignment or other factor. If you aren't invited, it's not personal

    4) Events are their own reward. You might not get any other reward from them, though Dms sometimes will. But often they won't so to avoid disappointment, just enjoy the event for the storytelling and the RP.

I would like to add a little onto this...

One of the best things about NWN2 is the potential for DM-driven events. No amount of scripting or AI can replace the true spirit of tabletop Dungeons & Dragons, but with live Dungeon Masters, we can certainly do so!

What Dormouse says is true: we hope to provide many of them! They are as much fun to run for the DMs as they are for the players, sometimes even more so! Players are never sure what to expect with a DM event and neither can DMs know what to expect when the players step into the ring. Sometimes the best plans get thrown out the window as we're required to take an avenue we never would have imagined. These unexpected surprises and twists are one of my favorite facets of D&D!

They do require a number of things to ensure that they run smoothly and enjoyably, though. It is true that D&D is a game focusing on teamwork and cooperation, and this is especially true when involved in a DM event. We ask that players do their best to work as a team, for the benefit of the team. Particularly difficult characters may make this difficult. (Please note: if you play a particularly difficult character, please keep this in mind. If you have trouble getting along with others, you may have difficulty participating in group activities.)

Often times, a DM has put thought and effort into their events. Sometimes it is spontaneous and whimsical, other times they are masterfully plotted and set up. Yet, almost always, they are intended to be aimed at specific characters, whether that is based on faction, race, deity, alignment, or whatever. This is why we ask that, should a player come across a DM event, they be courteous enough to let it continue without assuming an invitation. Just as a higher level group can disrupt or imbalance an encounter, so too can a righteous paladin if the event is intended for some more shady and mischievous characters or a vice versa. Unless the DM extends an invitation, whether IC or OOC, please do not invite yourself into the event. As Dormouse said, this is not intended to be personal, it is solely for the sake of maintaining the balance of the event. And just as we ask a player not to invite themselves, we also ask that players do not invite others into it without permission from the DM.

And it is also true that events are their own rewards. Sometimes characters will receive all manner of treasures, monetary rewards, experience rewards or even Role-Play Tokens, but sometimes too they may not. Please enjoy the event for what it is, not what you may or may not receive.

And most importantly, the Golden Rule:
    Have Fun!
